SECONDARY
SCHOOL

WHAT IS TASS?
Towards Ahimsa Secondary School (TASS) is a non-profit, independent high school in
Ontario grounded in the principle of Ahimsa—nonviolence in thought, word, and action.

We offer after-school and summer courses that combine interactive online learning with
in-person workshops and field trips. Students earn credits toward their
Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) while remaining enrolled in their home school.

Through project-based learning rooted in ethics, social responsibility, and environmental awareness,
TASS helps students build confidence, critical thinking skills, and leadership capacity—preparing them for success in high school and beyond.

Learn how

your choices can make a real difference for people, animals & the planet.

WHY TASS?

Learning with Purpose

Our courses use an Ahimsa-informed lens—an ethic of compassion, awareness, and minimizing harm rooted in the Jain tradition and echoed across many ethical teachings.  Through this lens, students explore social justice, animal rights, environmental sustainability & community leadership.

Experiential Education

Courses combine hands-on projects, real-world problem solving, and discussions that build critical thinking, creativity, and

practical skills.

Student-Led Learning
Learning at TASS is co-created. Students help design projects, drive discussions, and take on leadership roles—supported by dedicated teachers and community mentors who foster curiosity, agency, and responsibility.

Friendships & Community
Interactive classes, group projects, field trips, and workshops help students form lasting friendships and build community connections.
